I have lost 4 teeth and I am losing more as a result of using Subutex
My prescribing doctor just told my about the potential of losing teeth as a result of using Subutex in February 2022. People should have been warned of this side effect as I would have tried another medication. Thank you for your time

There needs to be a class action lawsuit. They’ve known about the tooth decay issues for years.

I was prescribed Suboxone several times from 2010 to 2028. I never had any major dental issues until after taking this medication. I now am missing 7 or 8 teeth and almost all of the rest of my teeth have crowns on them. It was a painfully long process to fix my teeth and now I am embarrassed when I smile and it is difficult to eat many different types of food. The medication helped save my life but has also caused me heartache and pain.

There needs to be a lawsuit against them for this, and they should pay at a minimum enough to fix everyone’s teeth, that has damage from the sub use. I’ve been prescribed them for 9.5 years now. I had perfect teeth before starting them, not even a single cavity. Now I’ve had to have about $10,000 worth of work just in the last 2 years alone! My husband had to have his whole bottom pulled last year, and had to get a denture bc they ate his teeth up so bad! And of course no matter how bad it gets, it’s too hard to stop bc they never told any of us from day 1 how addictive they actually were!

I had perfect teeth before suboxone. I’ve been in it 15 years and my teeth are all breaking and falling apart. I have a root canal Monday for another broken tooth. If anyone knows about a class action lawsuit please let me know where to go. I never heard about the first one and now they won’t let you file a claim!

On Buprenorphine for almost 3 years. Had all my top teeth pulled year ago. Bottom teeth are wrecked not sure the extent yet.

I started on Subutex in 2017 and after about a year was switched to suboxone. It saved my life. I had struggled with IV drug use since 2009. In and out of rehabs nothing really worked for me until Suboxone. I now have custody of my kids, a stable 40 hour a week job, my own home, and back in school for my B.B.A. With all of that being said. I have no bottom teeth. My top teeth were implants from a wreck I had as a teenager. Since taking Suboxone my implants have come loose and I have few bottom teeth. The ones that are there are broken and decayed. I can’t say that I regret taking Suboxone because it truly saved my life. I just wish I would have known about the dental risks beforehand.

i have false teeth ,just one month ago . teeth were rottening ,it cost me over 4000 plus dollars ,i have to wear dentures rest of my life ,

Was using suboxone for over 10yrs and was never told about tooth decay issue due to the meds. I now have the worst teeth ever most of them gone and can’t afford to get new teeth unless I get dentures. I have never been notified of any lawsuits in the past. I need help because it’s not fair I was never told of these consequences of this med or any alternatives so it didn’t happen.

Soboxone saved my life when I started it in 2014 and have been on it off and on for years now. Consecutively for the last 5 years. With that being said my teeth are in absolute terrible condition now.

I have been on this medication for several years and TONS of issues with my teeth all the way from having multiple filling to even having teeth pulled! funny thing is before this medicine I never had any issues with my teeth they were much whiter no cavities and a year after being on bupernorphine BAM dentist visit problem after problem!

I took 1 1/2 doses of buprenorphine in 2020 when my body was attacked by COVID. NEVER was I told it would destroy my teeth. It tasted terrible and made me feel weird. I refused to take anymore.

I believe suboxone was the reason my oral health declined. I now have had to have all top teeth pulled and now I have a denture in place. The teeth were not fixable. I was on drugs for many years, and my teeth only started rapidly decaying after trying to get better on Suboxone. I still have my bottom teeth. I have been clean for 4 years with the help of suboxone but bottom teeth are still decaying.

Ive been on suboxone 4 years and have had to get all my teeth removed, 2 dental surgeries, and am in the process of getting dentures or denture implants. My confidence is gone. Ive had to get therapy for depression and crippling social anxiety. Im only 37 and am completely toothless and have paid over $3000 for dental work and still have lots more to go. Next month I have to have a procedure costing $850 out of pocket. Im a single mom to a child with autism on a fixed income so to say it has been hard is an understatement. Before suboxone I had beautiful healthy teeth that I got a lot of compliments on. Before anyone blames previous drug use on the reason my teeth had issues that is not the case. I had surgery which caused complications and was put on a very high mg of pain meds by my Dr. I did not abuse my medication, I took them as my Dr said and was on them over a year. Once they found the source of the issue my body had physically become dependant and the withdrawals were pure hell but I never moved to street or IV drugs so no that isn’t the reason my teeth started breaking off. The first broken tooth happened in 2020 which was over a year after suboxone was prescribed to me. I dont mean to sound defensive but being called a crackhead and junkie over your teeth sucks and is demoralizing and has changed me from the happy confident woman I used to be to a shell of the woman I once was. There are options out there besides suboxone that dont have this side effect that could of been taken but due to suboxone manufacturers not disclosing this I didnt know it was something I needed to worry about. Now it’s too late I will be in dentures soon hopefully and hopefully will find the confidence that I once had.

I am having major expensive dental issues and have lost numerous teeth.

My husband and I both started taking Suboxone in 2015. If you were to look at our photos From then till now, it would not look like two people who were Free from opioid addiction; living a normal and healthy lifestyle. Both of us have lost almost all of our teeth completely. I am having the last four teeth removed from my uppers on 4/22/22, as they are beyond repair. I have four teeth remaining on my lowers, and they are also beyond repair. my husband has six teeth remaining on the top, all of which are broken, decayed, or infected. He has 5 teeth remaining on the bottom. we both have had to go to the dental school to obtain dental services, and you can all but imagine the torture we have had to endure. Unfortunately this is the only dental care that is even remotely affordable. Our treatment options are limited to extractions without sedation and temporary dentures of the poorest quality that are made by dental students. We didn’t choose opioid addiction, and we trusted our doctors when we were told “This drug is safe”; referring to both the opioids as well as the Suboxone. We regained our lives past opioid addiction maintaining healthy lifestyles, enjoying our children and advancing in our careers. People often refer to us as “the happiest couple they’ve ever known”; I would say “the happiest people who never smile”. Both my husband and I have had to leave our professional careers because of our Oral appearance. We are always encouraging our 4 teenage daughters to be confident in who they are, and to not let other people’s judgment or opinions of them alter their path or steal their confidence. We really are great parents , but the hypocrisy in teaching them the exact opposite of what we practice keeps us up at night. I’m determined to take back our dignity, and show our daughters how to advocate for themselves, fight for what’s right, and expose what is wrong!! The Drug comp should absolutely and unquestionably start to take responsibility and offer quality dental treatment options to the patients affected by Suboxone and Dental Nightmares. I’ve started using my own voice about it and it keeps getting louder. It’s not just our teeth that’s missing, …..it’s our lives.

I have been on suboxone since 2016, I’m in the process of being tapered off of it. I never had any dental issues until I started suboxone and no one informed me that this could be a side effect. I had beautiful teeth before I started this medication and I never had any dental issues either until I started suboxone. Since I started this medication I’ve had nothing but problems. I’ve spent more time at the dentist since I began suboxone than I have my entire life. My teeth are literally crumbling. I would appreciate help holding someone responsible for this.

I find it very coincidental that the FDA puts out a warning against suboxone and now everyone seems to be coming out of the woodwork, stating they have problems with their teeth..? And not to mention, there may be a lawsuit against the makers of suboxone now too? Let’s ask those taking suboxone, that are in recovery, how often they went to the dentist or how well they took care of their teeth, when they were in active addiction. Let’s not scare people into getting on a life saving medication because there may be a way for people to win some money now, all of a sudden. End the stigma.

I have lost all my back molars on the left upper side and now I am experiencing issues with the front eye tooth. I have always taken care of my teeth and now I can’t afford to replace these.

I’ve been on suboxone since 2012 and my teeth are complete shit now. I never had dental issues until the last few years. I just assumed it was because of my past life style and it’s just finally catching up to me which maybe that is part of it. But after hearing this maybe there is something else going on. I have permanent infection in my jaw/gums that just won’t go away even after finishing antibiotics. I’ve had multiple root canals recently, a tooth just pulled, another tooth just crumbled apart so i have 1/2 a tooth there and the rest are so sensitive and I can see cavities that need to be filled. I used to have such a pretty smile and I’m so insecure about it now yet I’m terrified to get them all pulled. The dentist is literally the scariest place for me to go to. I’ve had to go thru so much pain during some of my visits, I need to go more and I’m just so damn scared!!!

I have been on Suboxone since 2017, unaware that’s the reason for my dental issues as my Dr never mentioned it. I quit cold turkey once I heard about the issue. Currently have 3.5 teeth left which will be removed next month so I can get dentures.

My mother has chronic back/neck pain secondary to genetics as well as old injuries. She was prescribed OxyContin back when they told people it was non-habit forming. Very quickly did we learn that it was a lie. My mom never wanted to become addicted to a narcotic. She trusted her provider to have her best interest at heart and was lied to. With that being said, when she had had enough of being addicted to something that would eventually kill her, she tried to quit cold turkey. Quickly realizing that kicking a heavy narcotic cold turkey was nearly impossible, she was sent to a Dr. with an XDEA and the ability to prescribe the cure all “Suboxone”. Little did we know Suboxone wasn’t going to be the magic pill we all thought it would be. She went from being addicted to OxyContin to being dependent on Suboxone. On top of being dependent on Suboxone, she lost her front tooth while on vacation in Florida. Since this happening, I have watched her teeth fall apart one-by-one, I have watched her confidence dwindle away slowly as her smile became smaller and smaller. My heart breaks as she can only eat certain foods and has to stay away from others. A new mouth you say? To get a brand spanking new set of teeth will set her and my father back thousands and thousands. She has been Suboxone free for 12+ years. How’d she do it? She weened herself off of the drug little by little until she was eventually at an 8th of the film and even then the whole family had to watch her kick the sheets for almost a week once she dropped it. Suboxone has taken away so many things from my mother, but it also has taken away so much from our family. She will never get back the smiles lost and the opportunities she missed out on secondary to watching her mouth fall apart. Please please tell your story so we can gain recognition and are able to hold the makers of Suboxone responsible for their lack of transparency about its awful side effects. These people need new teeth!! My mother didn’t ask for any of this.

I have been taking suboxone since I was 17 and am now 27 and haven’t been able to taper off them successfully without feeling like hell forever after. My teeth r just shattering when I eat anything these days and I can’t afford dental work unless I get my decayed teeth pulled forever because I make to little money at my job. I need justice! Someone owes me they didn’t warn me of this !

I am 42 years old.Ive been a Suboxn patient off and on for over 10 years.My smile used to be my favorite thing about myself.Now i cover my mouth when i laugh.All of my teeth are either gone or rotten.If someone would have warned me i would never have chanced it.If this is true that this medicine possibly cost patients their teeth..then i would absolutely say that they should pay to replace.
