Kroger and Walmart Great Value Frozen Veggie Recall: Glass Fragment Risk

Certain types of Wal-Mart and Kroger frozen vegatables have been recalled due to the possibility that they may contain small glass fragments.
The frozen veggies recall was announced on October 15 by the manufacturer, the Pictsweet Company of Bells, Tennessee, after the company learned that some packages of its frozen peas might contain glass shards. The fragments could cause injury if ingested, but there have been no incidents or injuries reported so far in relation to the frozen peas.
The recall affects peas distributed to Wal-Mart stores nationwide and Kroger stores in the Southeast United States. The recall includes Kroger 12 ounce Green Peas with UPC 11110 89736 and production codes of 1140BU, 1440BV, 1440BW and 1600BD; Kroger 12 ounce Peas and Carrots with UPC 1110 89741 and production codes of 1960BD and 1960 BE; Great Value 12 ounce Steamable Sweet Peas with UPC 78742 08369 and “best by” dates of July 20, 2012 and July 21, 2012; and Great Value 12 ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables with UPC 78742 08026 and “best by” date of July 15, 2012.

This is the second recall of Wal-Mart Great Value label products in recent months due to foreign object contamination. No injuries or illnesses were reported in the chicken nugget recall.
