Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks Recall Issued Due to Choking Hazard for Babies, Toddlers

Federal safety officials are warning parents not to use Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks, due to a risk that children may choke on the snack products.

Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks are edible children’s snacks that have a firm texture, which gradually softens as it is chewed. The products are designed to soothe sore gums in babies and toddlers who are teething.

While the products have become increasingly popular across popular grocery chains, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Stick recall and discontinuation on January 31, following an alarming number of reports involving choking incidents, including one that resulted in an emergency room visit.
