Change Healthcare Data Breach Impacts Millions of Customers
A massive Change Healthcare data breach exposed the names, social security numbers, medical and personal information of potentially 100 million Americans, which have now been released on the dark web. Lawsuits are being pursued to obtain financial compensation.
Learn MoreThe FDA has determined that all of the recalled bodybuilding supplements use aromatase inhibitors, which is a controlled drug under the purview of FDA. The products were all being marketed as dietary supplements, which do not require FDA approval because they are not supposed to contain any controlled drugs and are not marketed to treat a disease.
Aromatase inhibitors block the development of estrogen, and are generally used to slow the growth of breast cancer tumors. The FDA warned that the side effects of aromatase inhibitors can include decreased bone maturation and growth, decreased sperm production, infertility, aggressive behavior, adrenal insufficiency, kidney failure and liver dysfunction. People with liver, kidney, adrenal or prostate problems are at a higher risk of aromatase inhibitor side effects.
The FDA has determined that the recalled products have a “reasonable probability” of causing permanent injury to at-risk consumers. The agency recommends that any consumers that still have these drugs should stop using them immediately. They should contact a physician if they believe they have experienced any adverse side effects from taking the drugs.
